Originally from Toronto, Canada, Debbie received her Masters degree from the University of Toronto, studying with Prof Lorand Fenyves and Jeanne Lamon and continued her studies on the doctoral level at the Indiana School of Music, Bloomington, Indiana, studying with Stanley Ritchie. A specialist in Historical Performance, she is also adept at virtually all styles of music, ranging from klezmer and Irish fiddle playing right through to Classical and Romantic repertoire, and her own original compositions.

Debbie has been a regular member of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment since 1999, working for such eminent conductors as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Mark Elder, Ivan Fischer, Vladimir Jurowski, Sir Roger Norrington and Masaako Suzuki. She has performed regularly with the English Baroque Soloists, L’Orchestre Romantique et Revolutionnaire (conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner), Gabrieli Consort, Florilegium, and The Sixteen.

Debbie has appeared as soloist with Fiori Musicali, Ensemble Sonnerie, and the Sweelinck Ensemble. She has performed as guest violinist with the chamber group Red Priest.

As a soloist, she has given recitals in Canada, the United States, Israel, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Her playing has been described as “...intense...graceful...”, “...passionate and full of energy”, “one who has the ability to rise to the occasion in a public performance in a special and dramatically persuasive way...”.

Debbie teaches extensively, ranging from Baroque and modern violin to chamber music and orchestral coaching. She has given masterclasses and lectures on Baroque performance practice in Ireland (Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, Limerick), Princeton University (New Jersey, U.S.), San Francisco Conservatory (California, U.S,), Royal Holloway (UK), Millfield Secondary School (Somerset), City Lit, and the Royal Academy, London, where she teaches regularly at the Junior Academy. In 2018 Debbie was elected an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
